A north-Norfolk holiday park has played a starring role in the wedding of a Suffolk couple who hosted their reception in a marquee in the grounds of Woodhill Park, in East Runton this weekend [15 June].

The couple, Kate Parnell (25) and Neil Missen (26) from Haverhill, Suffolk, decided on the unusual setting after a Neil proposed to Kate the previous year on the cliff top at the park which has magnificent views of the coastline and surrounding countryside.

Kate explains: “We just love visiting north-Norfolk and have holidayed at Woodhill every year for eight years so it holds a very special place in our hearts.

“We’re not a conventional couple so wanted to do something a bit different for our wedding reception and, with Neil proposing at Woodhill, thought it would be romantic, as well as unusual, to hold our reception there.

“At first we thought that we wouldn’t be able to because of health and safety rules but when Woodhill agreed that we could hold it there we were over the moon.”

The couple tied the knot at Sheringham Methodist Church before holding the reception in the marquee erected in the grounds at the front of the Park alongside 30 camping pitches where guests of the wedding party stayed.

Woodhill Park is a popular destination for families who want to get a real taste of the beautiful north Norfolk coast. The Park recently benefited from a £85,000 investment to revamp the onsite shop and reception, thanks to owner Blue Sky Leisure, making Woodhill the ultimate in cliff-top location holidays.

The refurbishment was as part of a wider £500,000 investment in the park and its sister destination, Kelling Heath Holiday Park, near Holt.Nigel Carr, Woodhill Park Manager, said: “Many visitors return to Woodhill year after year but this was the first time that we’ve been approached about holding a wedding reception here.

“We were surprised initially but have tried to make sure that Kate and Neil’s day is as memorable as possible and are absolutely delighted that they have chosen to make Woodhill part of their special day.

When asked where will the newlyweds will be spending their honeymoon, Kate replied: “At Woodhill Park, of course. Where else!”
